Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not the smallest, quickest, or cheapest, but the best
This is definitely the best external enclosure that I have ever purchased. I have had one unit running with a WD hard drive running continuously for over a year without a problem. It is hooked up to my tivo so it gets constant use with very little down time (in case anyone isn't familiar with Tivo, aside from recording the programs you choose, it constantly record shows it thinks you may enjoy, thus it is almost always recording something).

The unit is so quiet, I sometimes wished ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good so far... + "How To"
I've had one of these for almost a month and it seems to work well. I recently bought another for my GF and hers works well too. Mine has had a WD 320G SATA2 drive installed, and hers has a 640G AAKS drive. Mine now has a WD 640G Black (AALS) drive which works equally well.

- For me everything fit well together and nothing was loose or rattling/noisy.

- I've had no problems with connectivity or speed with any drive I've installed in this case so far, though eSATA is more ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not That Great
I use it with a WD 500GB hard drive. Sometimes my (XP) computers cannot recognize the device with message "USB device not recognized". I thought it might be a problem from the hard drive. And then I took the hard drive out and tested it on BlacX docking Station that I bought recently. The hard drive worked very well on the docking station. I googled for the problem and firmware and couldn't find anything useful.
I gave it 3 stars because of the above problem and the following reasons:

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Best fit case
This is indeed a very good product from Antec. As many had said about its pros, i am gonna list few cons. There are no visible lights to see whether this unit is on or off...not a big deal unless you are figting with you pc to recognize your external HD. At that time it is quite annoying. I couldn't hear the fan running even when i take it close to my ears. I don't see a big difference in temperature too. May be the fan kicks in when the temperature is bit hot. My 1 TB WD Green runs quite cool and there may ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Serves its intended purpose
I bought the Antec MX-1 along with a Western Digital 500GB HD to expand the capacity of my DVR box. I had the drive installed, up and running, in less than 10 minutes. Remove a couple of screws, install the HD, connect the cables, and it was done. My DVR immediately recognized the drive, and asked me to format it. A minute later, done. I had originally given the MX-1 a 5 star review, but I had to knock a star off because its fan is no longer silent. The MX-1 is fairly quiet, but I notice that the fan seems to ... Read More
