So I plugged this adapter into a USB port, installed a third-party driver (to work with OSX 10.4), added the network connection via Network Preferences, and it works perfectly. The driver isn't necessary on newer Apple operating systems, but you can get this to work all the way back to 10.3. A tech suggested I purchase a USB Ethernet adapter as a workaround, which I did. When I plugged it in, it didn't work. After doing some research, I discovered that Apple systems before Leopard do not support these devices. Really should not have been necessary; I guess something has to be left out when producing a landmark product like the Air.
