Apple Mighty Mouse Wireless Kit
Rating: - Mouse good, ball bad.The form factor is great. Sleek, Apple-sexy, and comfortable in the hand. The technology is great. Touch sensors on the top determine if you're single or double clicking and also allow righty and lefty people to both experience the same feel. The bluetooth responsiveness is great, showing no lag and being very responsive. However, one single aspect of this mouse keeps it from being perfect. The scroll ball. Surely you'll read many more comments below about this, probably voicing the same frustrations I will. The ball works great... for awhile. Right about then, you'll notice trouble scrolling down. First it will be jerky, uneven scrolling and then it just won't scroll down at all. The culprit is run-of-the-mill dirt and gunk that gets inside and gums up the "down" portion of the scroll wheels. You can even feel the difference with your finger. Before, you could feel the minute little clicks of a proper scroll ball, but then it's gone and nothing will scroll. Being a typical Apple product, there is no way to take it apart and clean this problem. There are various solutions on the internet, all involving a vigorous rub against a sticky surface, none of which have worked for me. I've had to visit an Apple Store 3 times already to get the mouse either replaced or "cleaned" by the Genius Bar. Visit four will be sometime this week as once again, I cannot scroll down. I'm not an engineer, so I can't suggest how a different design would fix this issue. All I know is that this is the first mouse that I've had to return to the retailer FOUR times in less than two years. For that, I just cannot recommend this mouse to anyone! Rating: - Mighty Awful MouseI've read so many different reviews on this mouse, and it seems like everyone is having the same problem with that damn scroll ball!!!!! I work for a web design company on a Mac, and I've got to suffer with this thing Apple calls "Mighty". The 4-way scroll (or 360 degree scroll, whatever it is that they're calling it) is a really nice feature at first, and I was cruising through pages as happy as can be. Then, about 2 months after I started using it, I noticed that the scroll-down direction wasn't working as well as it should for being only 2 months old. As a result, I'm constantly flicking the ball left, right, up and down in order to try to get it working again to no avail. It's extremely tempermental -- some days, my flicking technique works like a charm. Other days, it just irritates me to no end. You can bet that I will definitely be investing my money in a new mouse, one that has the same 4-way scroll technology, but is NOT made by Apple! I expect a lot better from them! Anyone who has owned a Blackberry and ended up with the same sort of frustration with the track ball will more than likely encounter the same problems with this mouse. Do not buy unless you plan on buying a new mouse within a few weeks! Rating: - Pleased with Apple Mighty MouseI've had two previous Mighty Mouses that have failed. This one appears to be better quality and I like the scrolling feature. Battery life is significantly improved. It seems that it is way over-priced, but then, I bought it. Rating: - MIGHTYY?? I don't think so.....unless they mean it in the sense of it might(y) work.I have to say this has got to be the worst wireless mouse I have ever had! I bought this mouse when I purchased my MacBook Pro and after a few days the mouse started to flake out. It starts out working great and then **poof** - where did it go??? The darn thing will not move at all. I have tried different mouse pads, even though it claims to work on more pads than others, to no avail. Batteries are good, green light on the bottom is there - what else could one check to correct the problem? Only other option is to contact Apple & see if I was just unfortunate and received a dud. For $ 69 at the Apple Store, bare minimum, expect it to work. I am an accountant, so every time I have to take my hand off the keyboard just slows me down. I recommend you go with a different mouse, unless you like to throw money away and get excessively frustrated. Rating: - Unreliable!!1. the right click on it? yeah right! you have to use your pinky and press in the corner of the mouse. 2. the side buttons are hardly convenient. if you have to take your hand off the mouse to use the buttons i dont see a point in it. 3. if have anything more than a piece of paper at the edge of the mouse you cant click down 4. the bottom panel likes to come off a lot if you pick up the mouse.... Read More 5. the tiny scroll ball is inconsistent with the speed of how it scrolls. when gaming with it, you barely bump the ball and the mouse will recognize it as moving a lot. 6-10. the connection in it is far from flawless. the connection will cut out on it for no reason then just as you start getting really pissed, it starts working again. i resisted chucking it too many times when it stopped working but when it cut out 3 times in about 5 min... i couldnt take it. |
