This real story takes in a large foods store in Los Angeles, California. The manager of the store arrived early in the morning as usual to address the needs of his business. The day proceeded normally with nothing distinctive to mention until noon. After a couple of hours in the afternoon he heard a cashier calling his name over the stores intercom to arrive at one of the isles. He proceeded to the isle calmly and did not expect to find anything. To his surprise, there was a woman screaming in pain lying in a pool of olive oil on the store’s hard floor. Beside her was an empty bottle of olive oil, that was some how spilled on the floor.

He tried to get the woman up but she started screaming in pain. He stopped his attempt to make her get up for fear that she might have broken bones from the incident. Suddenly the woman started threatening the manager and promising him that she will sue the store for this act of negligence that caused her all this pain and suffering. He ignored her comments and quickly grabbed the store’s phone and called the fire department. Within a few minutes the fire department officials showed up and they moved the aching woman very cautiously onto a stretcher for fear of causing her more injury. They finally got her out of the store and dropped her off at a near by hospital.

The store’s manager was shocked by the whole incident and could not think clearly at this point. He instructed one of his employees to clean up the olive oil immediately while he personally supervised him in doing to. After that, he returned to his office and was torn apart about what to do now, and what is the first action that he should take after the occurrence of this unexpected incident. He did not know whether to yell at his employees for not cleaning up the oil, start looking for the employee to fire, or begin his search for a good lawyer to defend him when the woman eventually sues him. Out of despair and confusion he decided to take another look at the incident that just took place in an attempt to digest its events.

He went to his security surveillance control system and rewinded the tape of the incident to a few hours before the incident took place. He sat there watching his security monitor when suddenly he saw something that made his mouth drop. This whole incident turned out to be a terrible act of deception and a wicked robbery attempt.

The video showed him that about five minutes before the woman started screaming and performing her phony show she actually picked up a bottle of olive oil from the oils isle and opened it up. She poured about half of it on the floor next to her. She then left the isle for a couple of minutes and came back while deliberately walking on the poured oil to make herself fall on the ground. She then began to scream for assistance while faking the pain and suffering. The fall itself was not that severe to cause any mentionable damage to anyone.

The manager was immensely relieved and could not imagine that someone would be willing to go through such a ridiculous act for an unconfirmed opportunity to make some money out of it. At that instance he also realized the immense benefit of having a complete set of security surveillance cameras for his store. He only installed this security system a few weeks ago, if he had waited for another month he would be in big trouble today. He invested close to three thousand dollars for these security cameras but he was sure happy to know that his hard earned money were invested in the right products. This woman could have easily gotten millions of dollars off of her phony claims if it were not for his security system.
